Day Twenty One - Liepāja to Ventspils
So, I dropped my camera on the highway the other day. It hasn’t been working the same since. Sometimes it turns on, sometimes not. Ad a result, I need to use my phone sometimes or just not get any photos. This morning was a no-go for my camera. I rode through some very pretty forests on gravel roads for about the first 25 miles. I should have taken some photos on my phone.
I decided to stop and try my camera again when I saw this structure. I believe these are water towers. My camera turned on!!
When I got on the highway I saw this lonely structure, not far from the sea.
It was quite a forest heavy day, which was great, but there was limited variety for photo taking. The forest along the highway was certainly worth photographing, though.
A field full of flowers stopped me with its beauty too. This photo does not do it justice. It was so peaceful and gorgeous. I just stood and stared for minutes.
Much of today’s landscape reminded me of the Seeley, Wisconsin area. The forests, bogs, fields, and pine trees all felt like home to me. Throughout the day I would have these thoughts or reflections, then I’d come through a village with something like a bus stop that is so NOT Wisconsin!
Lunch was the hit of the day. I rode about 1.5 miles off the route to check out a small restaurant on the beach of the Baltic Sea. It didn’t disappoint. I had the Longfish, otherwise known as Garfish. It was delicious and very unique as it has green bones. So crazy.
That’s really all that I had for today. It was a nice day in the bike with an amazing lunch. I need rest for 105 miles to the outskirts of Riga tomorrow. Good night!
